As remediation works progress in Ogoni, HYPREP has hinted at its determination to deploy the best innovative technology that can be found globally and the engagement of companies with the requisite technological capabilities to carry out site assessment and characterization as it sets to commence work in the high-risk complex sites by 2025.
PC of HYPREP, Prof Nenibarini Zabbey, disclosed this when he led Jan Haermers, Chairman of Haermer Technologies, Belgium, and his team to Okenogban, Alode, Eleme LGA, yesterday.
Prof. Zabbey assured that HYPREP would adopt best remediation practices with less disturbance and encourage community participation in the clean-up.
Remediation of the High-Risk Complex sites will involve addressing contaminants in soil and groundwater.
In February, the Honourable Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, led a team that included the PC of HYPREP, Prof Nenibarini Zabbey, and others on a technology-hunt visit to Belgium in search of contextually fit-for-purpose remediation technologies that would be deployed to clean up high risk complex sites in Ogoni.
