THE PROJECT COORDINATOR WAS INVESTED AS A FELLOW OF THE FISHERIES SOCIETY OF NIGERIA (FISON) AT ITS 38 ANNUAL CONFERENCE HELD IN BAYELSA STATE

The Project Coordinator, Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, Ffs, was invested as a fellow of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) at its 38 Annual Conference which was held on 28th November 2023 in Bayelsa State.

Prof. Zabbey has won several academic and social awards and research grants. He is the recipient of the Association of the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) 2022 Ruth Patrick Award for research and engagement with a critical impact on the recovery of the Niger Delta ecosystem from oil spills and environmental justice for affected communities. Thus, he became the first African to win the Ruth Patrick Award since it was instituted over 23 years ago.

He is a member of several professional societies, including the British Ecological Society, the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER), the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) and the Freshwater Biology Association of Nigeria.
