It was a beehive of activities for the Hon. Minister of Environment Balarabe Abbas Lawal who was on a two days visit to Ogoniland to commission four water projects in Ebubu, Kpean, Korokoro and Terabor in the HYPREP Phase 1 water contracts. On arrival, he paid a courtesy call on the Gberemene Gokana, King Festus Bagia. During the visit, the Hon. Minister in company of the Project Coordinator, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, Dr. Mike Nwielaghi, Chairman, BoT, members of GC, CRAC and ZRC, carried out a symbolic mangrove planting in Bomu, visited the Centre of Excellence for Environmental Restoration (CEER), had sessions with UNEP and staff of the Project. He had earlier met with Ogoni stakeholders where he assured of the Federal government’s commitment to the Ogoni Clean-up and urged for community buy-in and support, adding that the Project will continue to plan with the people towards a successful project implementation.
