PROJECT COORDINATOR SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH NIGERIAN CUSTOMS FOR PROJECTS DELIVERY

To deepen HYPREP’s collaboration with other governmental agencies, parastatals, and institutions, the Project Coordinator, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, received the Customs Area Comptroller, Area II Command, Onne Port, Mohammed Babandede, at the Project Coordination Office in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

During the visit, the Project Coordinator intimated the Area Comptroller of the mandate of HYPREP and the numerous ongoing projects in Ogoniland, including soil and groundwater remediation, shoreline cleanup, mangrove restoration, construction of water schemes, the Ogoni Specialist Hospital, the Centre of Excellence for Environmental Restoration, the Ogoni Power Project, and sundry livelihood projects. He further hinted to the Area Controller that the Project is expecting about 30 containers of equipment for the Ogoni Power Project through the Onne Wharf early next year. The PC further requested collaboration between both organizations that would benefit the Ogoni youths.

In his response, the Area Comptroller, Mr. Babandede, appreciated the PC’s warm reception. He reassured the PC that Nigerian Customs is willing to collaborate with HYPREP to provide the needed support to the Project to enable the smooth delivery of its mandate. The Chief Security Officer of HYPREP, AIG Emmanuel Effiom Rtd. and officers in the Area Comptroller’s entourage attended the meeting.
